Anglican theology is grounded in a practice of faith which seeks understanding through communal reflection in the light of Scripture, tradition, and reason. We maintain continuity with Christian faith as it is revealed in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament and symbolized by the Church’s ancient creeds. We maintain continuity with Christian practice in our celebration of the sacraments, daily prayer, hospitality to strangers, care for the sick, and commitment to justice and peace. We take the Bible seriously (but not always literally) as a witness to humanity’s evolving relationship with the divine.
At St. James, we recognize that the Way of Jesus is the source of healing and wholeness in our lives and in our world, and that this Way has been made available to people in other cultures and traditions. We foster respect for other religious traditions and embrace dialogue with them.
